Salt Crusted Prime Rib

2 cups rock salt

2 Tbsp. Pepper

1 Tbsp. Lawrys seasoning salt

2 Tbsp. garlic powder

2 Tbsp. karo syrup (optional)


Preheat oven to 210 degrees.  Season Roast with salt, pepper and garlic powder.  Cover roast with rock salt, if it is not sticking you can rub karo syrup on the roast to make it stick.  Roast at 210 for 8-10 hours until internal temperature reaches 110 for rare. 


If you do not want to cook it 8 hours you can do 325 for about 15 minutes per pound. 


When I make this I lay the roast on the salt and pile it up the sides as high as I can.
